E-passports: Fee structure, procedure, renewal, Registration (Complete Guide)

After a successful start in Islamabad in June, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has made e-passports available at all passport offices in Pakistan. At first, only diplomats and government workers could use the facility. In July, everyone in Islamabad could use it, and in August, anyone in the country could. Last month, the DGIP was very happy to share on Twitter that the first passport ever requested through the Inland Online Application method had been printed and sent.

Today, the directorate issued the fee schedule for e-passports, which is as follows:

  • As per the schedule, the normal fee for 36 pages for a 5-year e-passport is Rs 9000.
  • The fee for a 36-page urgent e-passport has been set at Rs 15, 000.
  • The normal fee for a 72-page e-passport has been fixed at Rs 16,500.
  • While the fee for an urgent 72-page e-passport has been fixed at Rs. 27,000,
  • The normal fee for a 10-year passport containing 36 pages is fixed at Rs. 13,500.
  • The urgent fee for a 10-year passport containing 36 pages is Rs. 22500.
  • The normal fee for a 72-page, ten-year passport is Rs. 24,750.
  • The fee for an urgent 72-page, ten-year passport is Rs 40,500.
  • Under the schedule, normal passport fees will remain as before.

As planned, the fee schedule has been in force since August 16.

Please note that the new schedule does not change the way standard passport fees are set up.

The new prices went into effect on August 16. This is a big step towards digitizing administrative processes and a change in the way visa services are handled in Pakistan.
